We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £9720 from The National Lottery Community Fund, enabling us to create a Community Hub and Café within Kidsgrove Sports Centre.
This funding will enable us to install free WiFi throughout the building, as well as a community-based Café within the centre reception where our community will be able to socialise and relax in a safe and secure environment. As part of the application, there will be the ability to make use of onsite digital tablets aimed at improving digital literacy and reducing digital exclusion, something which impacts many people within our community.
Mark Clews, Chair of The Kidsgrove Sports Centre Community Group CIO commented “We are delighted to have secured this vital funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which will enable us to focus on the mental and social wellbeing of our community, whilst addressing the growing issue of digital exclusion. It is our vision and passion to ensure that Kidsgrove Sports Centre provides a wide range of health and wellbeing activities that appeal to all.”
The Community Hub and Café will open along with the fully refurbished Kidsgrove Sports Centre in Spring.
