Happy, safe and confident
Every child follows their own swimming journey. For brothers Arthur and Leo, that journey has been one of growing confidence, learning new skills and looking forward to every lesson.
After starting their swimming lessons at Kidsgrove Sports Centre, both boys progressed steadily before moving on to private lessons with their swimming teacher, Lexi.
For Arthur, those lessons were particularly important in helping him regain his confidence in the water after a previous experience elsewhere.
Here’s what Arthur and Leo say about their swim lessons:

Arthur (above) and Leo (below) — two brothers with a shared love of swimming and a passion for learning
Arthur says:
“Lexi is a great swimming teacher to have. She has helped me so much to get my confidence back and I enjoy going to swimming again.
Lexi is always happy and kind to me. She has helped me to get better and shows me the correct way to perform new swimming styles. She is always proud when I do well with my swimming.”
Leo says:
“I love going to swimming and having Lexi as my swimming teacher. She makes it really fun and exciting to learn new stages of swimming.
Lexi makes me feel happy and safe. She is always proud when I do well with my swimming.”
Arthur and Leo’s Mum, Louise, has seen first-hand the difference swimming lessons have made.
“Kidsgrove Sports Centre’s swimming programme has been fantastic. Both Arthur and Leo started from the beginning and progressed nicely over time.
Rebuilding Arthur’s confidence in the water was a huge milestone after an incident at a previous swimming centre.
From having both boys in group swimming lessons to deciding to put them through private lessons together with Lexi, it was the best decision for them both. They have come on leaps and bounds during their time with her.
It is an absolute joy to watch how confident they have both become in the water. They are happy knowing they are in safe hands whilst swimming here.
Lexi is an invaluable member of the team. It truly shows how passionate and caring she is when teaching. She has the trust of my children, which gives me complete peace of mind.
Thank you all again for the support.”
Arthur and Leo’s story is a wonderful reminder that swimming lessons are about so much more than learning strokes. They build confidence and trust, and help children to enjoy their time in the water.
